YumeTwins: January ’18 Subscription Box

*Disclaimer: I own all the pictures. This blog post is not sponsored. Everything written over here is just my opinion.

Hey, folks!

This is the 3rd Subscription Box that I’m reviewing and it’s none other than the YumeTwins Box! I absolutely loved this box. The January installment contained some really good products and I will get into that part later. With this box done, I only have another box left with several on their way to me! Yes, that’s right! March Edition boxes from different Subscription Services and they are Indian Subscription Boxes this time! Need a hint? Two of them are from a really popular genre, starting from the letter ‘B’! Let me know in the comments what your guesses are!

As always, let’s get into the nitty-gritty first!

What is a Subscription Box?

A Subscription Box is a monthly, trimonthly or quarterly planned and distributed box that usually holds a theme based on the genre or category it is from. You can receive Subscription Boxes from different countries depending on the list of countries they ship to. Some of the more common Subscription Boxes you will see in this blog will range from genres like Beauty, Books, Skincare, Kawaii(Cute/Japanese themes), Food, etc.

If you have any recommendations for Subscription Boxes then please do let me know! I plan on purchasing a box from NoMakeNoLife and perhaps, maybe TokyoTreats as well! So, stay tuned for these upcoming reviews!

A little introduction for YumeTwins!

What is it? Where is it from?

The YumeTwins is a Subscription Service that is based in Tokyo, Japan. These boxes contain 6-8 kawaii(Cute) Japanese items. Each box usually has a big plushie, stationary, wearables, etc. Characters that are often featured in their boxes are Gudetama, PomPomPurin, Sailor Moon, Cinnamoroll, etc. This Box also ships for free worldwide! There are four Subscription plans available- monthly, trimonthly, quarterly & yearly. The monthly plan costs USD$35 with free shipping, as I mentioned earlier. Their most popular Subscription Plan is the Quarterly plan.

Word on the street?

I haven’t heard anything except for wonderful things about the YumeTwins Boxes. Several YouTubers and Bloggers that are interested in this category usually promote this service and no real problems have surfaced yet. Some minor issues like late shipping did come up but nothing too serious so far.

Personally?

I was super excited to try out this Subscription Service because like I said earlier, there are several people who have promoted Yumetwins with virtually more or less no complaints about them. I had to contact customer service immediately after I placed the order because I had a typo in my email id. Everything was resolved efficiently and quickly, too! I follow their Instagram account and it’s very active! They also acknowledge their fans and a few lucky fans get featured on the Yumezine(YumeTwins Magazine)! They also reveal a theme along with three of the items that will be featuring in the box for that particular month! My box, to my complete excitement, arrived on time and in perfect condition too unlike the previous two boxes! I really like the cute artwork done on the box inside and out.

With all that being said, let’s rate everything so far

Arrival: 9/10

Social Media Activity: 9/10

Customer Service: 9/10

Authenticity: 10/10

Now, let’s get into the product review!

The Penguin Daruma Plush

This plush is from Wombat-San and Friends series in Japan! There were 6 variations in characters, each from the series. Daruma’s are a hollow, round shaped Japanese traditional dolls designed after the Bodhidharma, the founder of the Zen traditions in Buddhism. This doll is seen as a symbol of perseverance and good luck!

I absolutely LOVE this plushie! It’s easily the best thing I’ve ever received so far from a Subscription Box! It’s incredibly huggable and cuddly. The intense softness and design of the plush is very kawaii in every sense possible! As you can see, the plushie I received is a penguin and boy, am I glad that I got this character! Also, the defining characteristics and symbolism of the Daruma is perfect for the start of the New Year!

The Gudetama Meal Of Folk Tales Blind Box

Gudetama is a character produced by Sanrio. Gudetama translates to ‘Lazy Egg’. He is known for his depressive character and lazy approach towards life. This adorable egg has also appeared in miniseries which can be found on YouTube! He’s a character that is loved worldwide by children and grown-ups alike! His merchandise comes in the form of stationary, plushies, keychains, wearables, etc.

Gudetama is easily my favorite character among the Sanrio produced characters. The one I got is the Nagashi Somen Gudetama! Nagashi Somen are very thin white East Asian noodles made of wheat flour and they’re usually served cold. I do own a few Gudetama products and I must admit that, even though I’m 18, I use a Gudetama cup. Some parts of your childishness are simply just too hard to let go and enjoying kawaii goods is something I am not planning to leave any time soon…much to my parents’ dismay. Anyway, I really liked this blind box but I would’ve preferred a different design, though. Tough luck(´。_。`)

The Shiba Inu Squishy Keychain

The Shiba Inu Squishy Keychain is a product of the AMUSE store based in Japan. AMUSE is also known for its various kawaii goods and merchandises that are available in their online stores. The Shiba Inu is a Japanese breed of dogs and it’s the smallest of the six original and distinct spitz breeds of dogs in Japan.

This was my first squishy and sadly, it was not very squishy. While I do like the cute face of the Shiba Inu, the lack of softness that usually comes with the squishy, was a bit of a disappointment. All that aside, it does make a good collectible item! Though, it does have the potential to get dirty.

The Disney Nail Clippers

The Disney Princess, also called Princess Line, is a media franchise owned by The Walt Disney Company. Disney Princesses are incredibly popular and are adored by children and even grown-ups all over the world. Almost everyone is used to hearing stories of the Disney Princesses from Princess Cinderella with her glass shoe to Princess Jasmine and her tiger! While the cute nail clippers don’t contribute to the New Year’s theme, they do make a great asset to the box and c’ mon, you know you want this. You didn’t before? Well, you do now.

I’ve always been a fan of Merida from Brave but I received a nail clipper with Princess Ariel on it. This does bring back memories of picture books and The Little Mermaid movie. What a great walk down memory lane! The quality of the nail clippers is great and sufficient enough. Though the designs are a bit blurry, it’s not very visible and virtually don’t bring forth any issues. Even the packaging for the nail clippers is very Disney Princess like and I don’t expect any less from Disney!

The Disney Tsum Tsum Calendar

The Disney Tsum Tsum is a range of collectible items that are based upon Disney and Pixar characters and they also come in the form of wearable merchandises and stationary! Some the characters featured on the calendar are Mickey & Minnie Mouse, Donald & Daisy Duck, Chip & Dale, Olaf(From Frozen), Buzz Lightyear(From Toy Story), etc.

I am not quite surprised that this was included in the box. Most unboxing videos for the month of January usually have a calendar but not that I’m disappointed! This is a great new addition to anyone’s desk! Each month has a different character and the best part is that you get stickers! Not just any stickers, you can use them to mark the days for things like shopping, birthdays, memorials, parties, etc. I think this was a very neat aspect of the item and I look forward to using them soon!

Marumofubiyori File

Marumofubiyori is a trio of Sanrio produced characters. The main character ‘Mop’ is a white bear cub, who is always draped in a yellow blanket with blue polka dots. He has two friends, a bluefish and a red crab! Marumofubiyori was also newly released in 2017 and is the latest of the Sanrio productions!

While my favorite item in this whole box is still the plushie, hands down, this file is probably the second runner up for me. Mop is so cute(✿´ ꒳ ` )! The quality and design of the file is simply adorable and kawaii in every way possible. I couldn’t possibly use this for any of my own paperwork, but my kitten, Momo, uses this file to store her medical receipts and the little booklet that she got from the vet. I must admit, I am a bit jealous but I couldn’t have found a more worthy candidate for this file!

The Kirby Bathbomb

Kirby is a character and the titular protagonist of the Kirby series of the video games owned by Nintendo and HAL Laboratory. This character is played by Makiko Ohmoto and was created by Masahiro Sakurai.

I used the coupon KIRBYXMAS and received a free bath bomb! The bath bomb made a great foot bath and it was amazing. My feet felt strangely moisturized and refreshed! I won’t ever forget the softness of the soles of my feet either(´ω`。) also, the character I received inside the bath bomb is a Waddle Dee!

Here’s Momo in the box! This little trouble maker got into the box while I was busy repacking everything. So, maybe the YumeTwins box is so good, that it makes a great comfy spot to sit in, too? Ah!(゚ρ゚;

Finally,

My verdict?

I think this is one of the best Subscription Services available in the Kawaii Subscription Box genre. Of course, there might be some problems that I’m not aware of but like I mentioned before, nothing serious has ever surfaced and the customer service is impeccable and is always up to help their customers. I’m really glad that I was finally able to get my hands on one of these. It’s a shame that the Yumezine was only added later from the February Box onwards but nevertheless, this was a great unboxing and it was fun to review it as well! Lastly, I do highly recommend this Subscription Service. I will continue to review this line of boxes in the future and I really look forward to that. But, just a little advice that I want to make sure I give on every post I make, always try to go for the monthly box first before you go all out for a quarterly or yearly plan. Doesn’t matter whether it’s for the YumeTwins Box or anything else, always be weary!

Feel free to reach out to me if you have any doubts or queries regarding the boxes I review! Also, make sure to leave a like and comment!

Until the next post,

laters, folks! :3
