I think I’m finally catching up with the Subscription Boxes. As you can see, today I will be reviewing the February edition of the YumeTwins Box! This box just arrived at my place about 4 days ago and for the last 3 days, I have busy writing some assignments and reports for a course I’m taking as well as writing the reviews for the Subscription Boxes that you may have read. If you have read them then make sure to check them out, leave a like and comment! Look at you, still reading this and not even looking at my older blog posts… tough luck. Anyway, I’m really excited to review this box! Also, this is my second Subscription Box from the YumeTwins.
What is a Subscription Box, you ask?
Well, A Subscription Box is a monthly, trimonthly or quarterly planned and distributed box that usually holds a theme based on the genre or category it is from. You can receive Subscription Boxes from different countries depending on the list of countries they ship to. Some of the more common Subscription Boxes you will see on this blog will range from genres like Beauty, Books, Skincare, Kawaii(Cute/Japanese themes), Food, etc.
It’s unfortunate that some really good Subscription services like the Pusheen Box, Akibento and Doki-Doki don’t deliver to India but I guess, I will just have to make do with whatever is available! Though, I’m sure in the future that the list of worldwide countries that they deliver to will soon increase, giving folks like me a chance to enjoy and review them. Are there any boxes that you want to try out but can’t cause they don’t deliver?
A little introduction for the YumeTwins Box!
The YumeTwins is a Subscription Service that is based in Tokyo, Japan. These boxes contain 6-8 kawaii(Cute) Japanese items. Each box usually has a big plushie, stationary, wearables, etc. Characters that are often featured in their boxes are Gudetama, PomPomPurin, Sailor Moon, Cinnamoroll, etc. This Box also ships for free worldwide! There are four Subscription plans available- monthly, trimonthly, quarterly & yearly. The monthly plan costs USD$35 with free shipping, as I mentioned earlier. Their most popular Subscription Plan is the Quarterly plan.
Word on the street?
As I said before in my previous post, I haven’t heard anything bad about the YumeTwins. The customers seem very happy with their boxes and often still post pictures with their boxes and post it online on Instagram, etc.
I was hoping to receive the box on time but unfortunately, it came in a little later. I already knew what the contents of the box were going to be because of the videos of YouTube, so the initial excitement of the box had already worn off and I simply couldn’t wait to get my hands on the plushie of the month! This time the box carries a ‘Pretty Picnic’ theme and I adore the Yumezine copy I received. As I mentioned the previous post, the YumeTwins Box started giving out the physical copy of their monthly magazine, the Yumezine. For a brief period, the YumeTwins had stopped sending out the copies of Yumezine and resorted to the online form for the magazine instead but after a poll conducted recently on their Instagram Social Media handle, they learned that a lot of their subscribers wanted the physical copies of the Yumezine back! Hence the reason why, we can all rejoice on the fact that the cute little booklets can always be expected to be present in every little box starting from the February box onwards
So, based on these, my ratings are
Social Media Activity: 9/10
Customer Service: 9/10
Without further ado, let’s review!
The Hedgehog Plushie
This is a newly released Hedgehog plushie in Japan. While it mentions on the label that it’s made in China, further inspection into it tells us that, the publication is called Santan Corporation and it is based in Osaka, Japan. This cuddly animal plush is notably known for standing/sitting on its own and as it is said by YumeTwins, it’s the perfect picnic companion. Also, a small nocturnal ‘Old World’ mammal with a spikey coat and short legs, and it’s able to roll itself into a ball for defense. So cute!
I’ve got to admit it, YumeTwins is doing real justice to the plushie quota of the box. The plushie is very adorable and super cuddly! Also, those of you who have already received this box must’ve noticed this but, each time you brush your hands against the fur, it shows a quick transition of gray and dark gray. I think that’s pretty cool about the plushie! While I don’t host tea parties and picnics anymore, alas it was one of those parts of my childhood that I had to let go of, my cat thinks the Fairy Penguin(From the YumeTwins January Box) and Hedgehog make great play and nap time companions! Nyaan~
Relevance(To theme): 8/10
The Disney Tsum Tsum Bento Box
The Disney Tsum Tsum is a range of collectible items that are based upon Disney and Pixar characters and they also come in the form of wearable merchandises and stationary! The characters featured on the bento box are Mickey & Minnie Mouse and Donald & Daisy Duck. A bento is a single portion of food that is packed in a compact box and it’s a common Japanese cuisine. Traditional bento boxes often hold noodles or rice with either fish and mate with pickled or cooked veggies.
I remember waking up early and running off to my Nanna’s room to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse… boy, that was over a decade ago. Nostalgia aside, this is a very cute bento box! Although I don’t really use lunch boxes, I don’t see why I can’t own one(ㆁᴗㆁ✿) This bento box perfectly compliments the ‘Pretty Picnic’ theme. Also, there are variations in the designs and looks for different boxes. Personally, I prefer the black & white Mickey Mouse era, what about you guys? Comment below!
The Sumikko Gurashi Cup and Ramen Spoon
Sumikko Gurashi is a set of characters that were designed by Yuri Yokomizo and produced by San-X. The meaning of Sumikko Gurashi is ‘Adventures in cuddly corners.’ Some of the characters on the cup are Tonkatsu, Tapioca, and Ebifurai No Shippo! And the character we got on the Ramen spoon is Penguin, who has no confidence.
The moment I learned that Sumikko Gurashi was going to be featured in the February Box, I was super psyched! The Tapioca three are simply way too cute to handle. I’m so glad to have gotten them on my cup. Every pretty picnic needs its share of kawaii cups! If I do ever go on a picnic, I will make sure to carry these along with me to accompany with my Gudetama cup.
Shirokuma is actually my favorite of the lot but I think Penguin is pretty adorable too! I haven’t really gotten around to trying out ramen yet but looks like I’m prepared for that event(ﾉ≧ڡ≦) This spoon is super handy and a great addition to the box. I hope to see Sumikko Gurashi again in their later boxes as well!

The Disney Winnie The Pooh Squishy
Winnie The Pooh is a character from the Disney Media Franchise and created from A. A. Milne ‘Winnie-The-Pooh’ and The House At Pooh Corner. Winnie the Pooh made his first appearance in the year 1924 in When We Were Very Young as Edward Bear and Winnie The Pooh as Winnie The Pooh. Children from all around the world are very familiar with this adorable bear, who appears in children’s cartoons! Ah! Don’t you just feel nostalgic when you pass by the Disney goodies at a store?
Unlike the previous squishy I received from the YumeTwins Box, this squishy is incredibly squishy and that’s not even my favorite part. What I absolutely LOVE about this squishy is the freshly baked goodie aroma it has! Even after holding it for a couple of secs, it leaves my fingers with a delicious scent. Hands down, best squishy I’ve received so far! Also, funny story, when I was a year old, my folks threw me a huge birthday party and they brought a Winnie The Pooh mascot. Seeing me huge bear made me cry all night whenever I saw him and that was it for my first lifelike Winnie The Pooh and there’s photographic evidence too. Ah.. memories.
The Dual Tipped Highlighter and Sketch Pen (Yellow)
Well, the dual-tipped highlighter and sketch pen is by a brand called Just Fit and they’re based in Japan. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find out much about the pen but I did find a seller on Ebay.com, who is selling a similar pack of pens. If you’re interested, then visit here.
I don’t understand how does this go with the ‘Pretty Picnic’ theme but it sure is a handy dandy item for a college student like me, since I always need these to write and mark notes. A more picnic related item would’ve been better, personally, I would’ve preferred something like maybe a cute spread cloth with a Sanrio or San-X look or even Tsum Tsum for that matter. YumeTwins really dropped the ball with this one but hey, at least we get some other really useful items.
And with that last review,
Here’s how the box looked when it first arrived. I have got to admit, unlike the last time, it looks pretty bad on the sides and not as pristine as it used to be.
Nonetheless, let’s head to the conclusion of this post,
I still think that the YumeTwin’s is one of the best kawaii Subscription Services out there. The products they send out are authentic and very good quality wise. I will thoroughly enjoy using the cup and spoon and of course, all the future cuddles that await with the Hedgehog plushie. Yes, we cannot forget the delicious inedible squishy! While I won’t deny that YumeTwins did goof up with the pen, I think that there’s always scope for improving and getting better. As always, try to get the monthly box of any Subscription Service before jumping into the Quarterly and Yearly plans, also, don’t forget to keep up with their social media accounts, since most Subscription Boxes reveal some of the goodies that will be sent out for the month.
