Pepzart: Enamel Pins & Vinyl Stickers Review’19

*Disclaimer: All the pictures used in this post belong to me. This post is not sponsored. Everything written over here is just my opinion.

Hey, folks!

Now that it’s been a while since my exams have been dealt with, it’s almost time for me to receive my results. Though, that’s a thing to worry about another time. I actually began writing this review back in April, when I had first received all the packages but I was simply overwhelmed with how much I had left to prepare for exams and had to leave the review aside. So, here I am, finishing for what I first began weeks ago. Since you’ve already read the title, you know it’s not quite one of my usual reviews and in fact, I’m new to this category as well. So, bear with me as I show you the first few to officially inaugurate my enamel pin collection.

What is Pepzart?

Pepzart is the brand created by Perpetual Gomes, a Concepts & Visual Arts Director and Illustrator based in Mumbai, India. By combining her talent and love for cute doodles, she has created a platform that delivers her own well-designed and quality approved products. Most of her products are enamel pins, vinyl stickers and buttons. The theme of her designs are usually either drawn from animals like cats and red panda’s or even, the Harry Potter characters. She has two platforms, where she conducts her business, Pepzart.in, is for domestic orders located within India (Paytm only) and her Etsy store(click here), is available for international customers.

Personally?

It really is a small world, isn’t it? I first came across Pepzart during Comic Con Mumbai (India) ’18. Back then, I hadn’t quite started my hobby for collecting enamel pins yet, so, while I was mesmerised by the amazing and rather kawaii designs at the Pepzart stall, I was running low from all the money I had already spent over unnecessary fandom merchandise, that I probably won’t be using ever again. Either way, I was quite surprised when I came across her account online on Instagram (@pepzart) and until that very moment, I hadn’t realised that Pepzart is actually based in India. Once more, I was tempted by the designs. So naturally, I decided to invest in a few, during which I ended up placing two separate orders after much contemplating and soul searching. My first order was placed pre-sale back in April, during her sale, I placed an order twice. I even got the chance to chat with Perpetual and it was really pleasant, it’s always nice to get to know artists and creators! By the end of the sale, I had splurged on 3 different orders with enough pins to get my collection started.

Ratings so far,

Arrival: 9/10

Social Media Activity: 9/10

Authenticity: 9/10

Now, I know these ratings are rather bright and shiny in comparison to how I usually rate in the beginning of my reviews, but, please bear with me as we further get deeper into the real review.

Since there are two categories present in this review, let’s first start with the Enamel Pins.

The Hearticorn Pin

It is a heart shaped unicorn pin with a pastel color scheme with glitter on the front and a full golden finish on the back with a yellow rubber clutch at the back as well. There’s also a logo for Pepzart at the back of the pin.

I’ve never been much of a unicorn fanatic and a lot of time was spent contemplating on whether I should make this buy or not. But, after watching the several pictures on the Pepzart Instagram account and the sale price, I’m glad I got around to buying it. The pastel color scheme along with the wonderful white and glittery sparkle starts off your collection with a little bit of cute and a lots of nostalgia. There were no defects or marks on the pin, and I’m really glad about that as well. Overall, if by the end of this review, you plan on purchasing a pin, I would highly recommend getting this one. In fact, I remember recommending this pin to a few others as well, it makes a great gift for any unicorn lover. Even the design is really quite unique or atleast not something I’ve come across before.

Christmas Gingerbread Kitty Pin

This is a hard enamel pin with an overall golden finish with white colored details and pink cheeks. At the back, there’s the Pepzart logo with two white rubber clutches.

I wasn’t quite sure about which Christmas themed kitty I liked the best. Since Christmas is still a long way away, I figured that I still had time before I needed a fruit cake kitty pin. The design is so cute and reminiscent of kawaii illustrations, it’s a pin worth making the purchase. Though, considering how glossy and pretty the surface is, I’m not sure about how well it will deal with scratches and other marks. So, please be wary about that. Other than that, I’m sure with enough careful safekeeping and storing, the pin will be a great valuable addition to anyone’s collection.

The Black Witch Kitty Pin

This pin comes in golden finishing with a black and purple color scheme. The tag it comes with is themed after a spooky but cute, Halloween scene. It has the Pepzart logo at the back with two purple colored rubber clutches.

Yes, it’s no secret that I absolutely adore cats and I assure you that this isn’t the last time you see a cat in this post. A Halloween themed cat enamel pin is definitely an accessory that anyone, who has that cute but dark side to them, can show off with ease. This pin also comes in another color with a white iridescent cat. It was really hard to decide between the two, and I probably will get the white cat as well. Regardless of that, when Halloween comes around, this is one trick that will set the mood in.

The Cute Owl Pin- Slytherin

This is a hard enamel pin with an iridescent white and green look with a golden finish. At the back, there is a Pepzart logo with two white rubber clutches.

Among the Harry Potter themed pins, this is probably one of my favourites. While I do like the character pins as well, I really wish there was one for Draco Malfoy to represent the Slytherin house. Hopefully there will be one in the future! Another reason why I have included this pin for the review is to take a little dive out of the kawaii-verse and into the HP fandom. Though, this is the only HP themed pin in this review, it really goes to show how well the pins are made and even the owl is very similar to that of Hedwig, though, that’s just an assumption. The other pins will be quite similar to this, except for the color of their scarfs.

The Sugar Skull Kitty Pin

This is a white iridescent colored hard enamel pin with a golden finish. In the back, there’s a Pepzart logo with two yellow colored rubber clutches.

Hands down, my favorite pin in the entire Pepzart collection. The design is so beautiful and well-done, the white iridescent is the perfect choice for such a design and it’s just the right size as well. It also looks even so much more appealing in person. I highly, highly recommend this pin. Fingers crossed for more such future enamel pin designs!

With that, the pins are done. Now, the second part of this review will feature the vinyl stickers inspired from doodles, collaboration works and the pins available on her site.

The Cute Kawaii Vinyl Sticker Set

There are a total of 5 stickers in this set, the Donut Kitty, Red Panda, Hearticorn, Unicat and Unipup. Each of these stickers have a matte finish. They also each have their corresponding enamel pins.

I specifically bought these stickers for this review because I wanted to check out more than just the enamel pins. Another reason why I bought this set is because I really wanted to get my hands on the Donut Kitty Pin but it has been out of stock for a while now. Though, if I remember right, there are some new pins on their way to be released, so, fingers crossed! Even the Unicat and Unipup are such cute designs, it’s a shame that these are available in pin form only on another artist’s site, so, no Paytm. Here’s a link to the site to grab one for yourself. While I’m not big on stickers, these are actually really nice quality stickers, they would make a nice little piece for gift hampers and on laptops.

Yellow Panda Sticker (Freebie)

This is a regular large sticker with a glossy finish. It is 2.5inches x 2.5inches.

When I received my package for the first time, I received this little sticker and I thought it’s best if I include this as well in the review because there are other non-matte vinyl finish stickers available on her site as well. Once more, the quality is really nice and it’s what really prompted me to invest in the stickers.

My Verdict?

It’s just so good to see that there are Indian creators and artists, who make such unbelievably cute accessories as well. I’ve always been a big fan of kawaii accessories and it’s great to finally have a place where I can buy my own enamel pins, without having to worry about the international shipping either. Though, Pepzart does have her store on Etsy as well, and, she also sells second grade enamel pins as well, these are the pins that didn’t turn out exceptionally well and may have some spilt paint or some other minor defects on them. As far as I can tell, they still look wonderful to me and if they were available on the domestic site, I would’ve gotten my hands on them. So, what am I saying here, do I recommend Pepzart? Oh, yes! I definitely do. From the cute and simple packaging with the little stickers on them from her own brand, to the well-made enamel pins and stickers, it’s all worth the price. Also, for those of you, who are a little intimidated by the prices for each pin, when you put into thought that this is all handmade and the work of a single person, who designs these, it’s all really worth it. I was a little taken aback the first time when I started looking for enamel pins online, most sellers have a similar price and I think it’s quite reasonable. The materials and the time taken to perfect each item is what makes the prices worth it. There might be a few new enamel pin releases from Pepzart soon, as I have previously seen on their Instagram, and they might make an appearance here soon! So, don’t forget to check out the links to the Pepzart site(domestic), her etsy store or Instagram.

As always, feel free to reach out to me either via email or using my Instagram handle @CrypticCriticChan. If you have any feedback or suggestion, I’m all ears.
